Something exciting is coming to Christ the King – our OWN Plot Against Hunger! Lauren Hagemeister, church member and Ambassador Girl Scout, is building a garden to produce vegetables for food-insecure families in the Richmond area. Everything grown in the garden will be sent to the St. Matthias Food Pantry where they will package the produce and deliver it to families in need. Lauren’s goal is for the garden to eventually be sustained by the congregation, but it has to be built first!
If you have been blessed in a way which enables you to donate, please sign up to bring soil as it will be the garden’s biggest expense. Gift Cards for Lowe’s and Southern States will also be graciously accepted.
Be a part of this undertaking! We will be putting the soil in the raised beds, spreading mulch, and planting on Sunday, August 6th after the combined service. We could also use more physically able helpers on Saturday, August 5th to excavate the garden area and build the beds.
